Blog 3

I agree with what Patricia has to say. I think it was interesting how there were thoughts that were impossible to be thought of if you knew English, but existed in other languages. The statistics against getting Alzheimer's compared with how many languages you knew was intriguing as well. It's obvious that knowing more that one languages is a good thing. There's nothing bad you can get out of it, to be honest. Being multilingual really is important; it can open up so many knew dimensions of our world that we never even knew of.

Blog #2 Spanish Song

The lyrics to the song are in the video. I posted this because I like the English version of the sound... I guess she's just making an analogy about how she's a little stir crazy and needs to break her usual routine and have fun.

Lifetime pensions awarded to 14 of the trapped Chilean miners

We’ve all heard of the Chilean miners who were trapped underground for a shocking three whole months. Well, they’re back in the news again. Fourteen of the miners have received lifetime pensions—a fix amount of money that is paid at certain intervals. A ceremony was held in Copiapo where the first lady of Chile announced this news. They will be receiving an amount of money equal to $540 U.S dollars. The miners who were selected were determined by certain factors such as age, health, income, and opinions from the group of miners. The government wants to help the miners who lost their jobs due to the collapse of the mine. They are taking steps to help the miners recover from the trauma. One miner stated that the attention they are receiving has induced envy in friends and family. Unfortunately, the accident wasn’t a good thing. Many of the former miners have been working hard to earn money and a lot of them take medication to cope with the ordeal.

Paige's First Blog Entry ♥

Sooo, I'm really excited to be taking Spanish this year. Learning Spanish is a HUGE goal for me as I know it will help me greatly with careers in the future due to the increasing amounts of Spanish-speaking people entering the country. This semester of my sophomore year, I'm hoping to join clubs and do winter track. I just want to enjoy life and have fun with my friends. I've never blogged before but I've kept a diary since the sixth grade and this is sort of like it. I think it would be useful in sharing ideas with the class and the teachers. I'm going to try really hard this semester as Spanish is one of my main goals in the oncoming years.
